2021 Nissan Titan XD Engine, Powertrain and Price.Ever since its first appearance, the XD heavy-duty version of Nissan Titan is drawing attention. Well, this is the only non-US based truck that can compete with the likes of Ford Super Duty, Chevy Silverado HD, and Ram HD pickups. And it is doing well, though. A diesel engine performs so well and the Japanese company is considering adding the same type of drivetrain to its smaller trucks – Tacoma and Tundra. But, before these two, we will see another edition as 2021 Nissan Titan XD.The new vehicle could get some big changes, but the market is not requiring so. These commercial trucks are there to work. Everything else is not so important. But, every now and then truckmakers must refresh the look and another offer. Well, rivals of the 2021 Nissan Titan XD will go to new generations in 2020 and 2021, so the Japanese pickup could wait for their move. On the other hand, Titan XD could surprise everyone by launching a new model before competitors.
2021 Nissan Titan XD Specs
Under the hood of the 2021 Nissan Titan XD will be the same diesel engines we can find in the current edition. There are petrol and diesel variants and both are V8s. Each carries advantages of drivetrain using specific fuel type – so the petrol unit makes more power, but fuel economy and torque are diesel’s playground. Well, the price is higher as well. The petrol engine is a 5.6-liter V-8 with the capability to produce 390 hp. Also, through an eight-speed transmission, this double-overhead-cam unit delivers 400 pound-feet of torque. It also uses direct injection to maximize performance, especially in tough terrains. The 2021 Nissan Titan XD has a different suspension and axle setup than the standard truck. Part of these modifications comes with heavy-duty frame used for XD version.
2021 Nissan Titan XD Diesel Specs
The more popular model is 2021 Nissan Titan XD diesel. Its power comes from a 5.0-liter engine. With 310 hp and 555 lb-ft, an eight-speed gearbox is not capable to handle such amount of torque. Instead, Nissan is installing a six-speed automatic transmission for a smoother drive. Towing capacity of the new 2021 Titan XD will reach 13,000 pounds after modifications. Currently, the truck offers 12,300 lbs of towing capacity. As for the gas model, the Titan XD diesel will have 4×2 and 4×4 drive modes at buyers’ choice.

The heavy-duty pickup is modern and aggressive as its smaller siblings and rivals. Special body panels will improve strength and durability. At the same time, these will be lighter thanks to higher usage of aluminum.
2021 Nissan Titan XD Pro 4X
While the company is still weighing up the appearance of the Warrior version, the most exciting model remains the 2021 Nissan Titan XD Pro 4X. It adds some off-road vibes to the truck. Bilstein shocks set and a seven-speed auto transmission is unique upgrades we won’t find elsewhere. This model will also offer hill descent control and electronic locking rear differential system.
