The forthcoming 2021 VW Amarok pickup truck comes with an imposing exterior, very modern interior and two proven engines. In comparison with the 2019 model, the 2021 Amarok will get interior refinement and slight exterior upgrades. On top of that, one new engine will become available next year.Perhaps the biggest mystery is if this pickup will hit the American soil. It is true that the U.S. is packed with astonishing and competitive models but the Volkswagen’s goal is to extend the production to all bigger markets. That of course, includes the United States. If that happens, another new engine will for sure be in the offer. No matter what happens, Amarok will remain great off-roader as it adds four-wheel-drive configuration and great performance in general.
2021 VW Amarok exterior looks sportier
The 2021 VW Amarok comes with slight exterior upgrades. Right now, Volkswagen feels there is no need for further changes as the pickup already looks upscale and competitive. We’d like to call those upgrades a “modernizing”.The front end will now sport two horizontal bars and the features such as headlights and front fascia, in general, are looking sportier. Moreover, the front bumper is bigger and the hood adds slightly more creases. The side profile won’t suffer any changes and the side steps won’t be standard as some rumors suggest. The rear end will get slimmer taillights and the trailer hitch is all-new. The lockable tailgate is a standard feature which prevents thieves from stealing.
2021 VW Amarok center stack suffered refinement
Unlike the exterior, the interior will get more updates. The traditional cabin design is replaced for a more premium and modern styling. With that in mind, you can forget about the aging air vents and the steering wheel. Furthermore, infotainment display is all-new and is larger now. The materials are upscale, leather upholstery is optional and the steering wheel comes with piano black accents as standard. The center stack also suffered refinement and as a result, the stack is looking more premium. The infotainment system is up to date and the satellite navigation and Bluetooth are standard as well. The room inside the cabin is generous and the 2021 VW Amarok is family friendly pickup without any doubts. Of course, if you are seeking luxury, opt for the upper trims with more upscale standard features and leather upholstery.
2021 VW Amarok engine and acceleration
At the beginning of this review, we wrote the 2019 VW Amarok offers two drivetrain options. However, it is actually a single engine choice with two different outputs. A 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel TDI is under the hood and it provides great efficiency. The first configuration is a higher-strung variant with 220 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque.Second output delivers 160 HP but the fuel economy numbers are much better. This engine offers 8-speed automatic transmission and the rear-wheel-drive setup is standard. If you are seeking off-road adventures, an optional all-wheel-drive system is a must. This pickup truck can reach from 0 to 62 mph in 7.8 seconds.
2021 VW Amarok price and release date
We expect a slight price increase in comparison with the 2019 Amarok. Latest updates will raise the price so the 2021 VW Amarok will cost just over $30,000.It is not a significant jump in price but loading more optional features could make a significant cost. New Amarok will hit the dealerships at the very end of 2019. The U.S. markets will have to wait probably for the summer of 2021.
