2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz: Spied, Price, Specs, & Changes. The new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz is the company’s first pickup truck that will go into production next year. This model is based on the next-gen Tucson SUV and it provides attractive styling.
Camouflaged Hyundai Santa Cruz prototype just spied testing and we have some exclusive photos to share. Unlike the original concept, the new model will be a real “compact” pickup that will be likely a bit smaller than the Honda Ridgeline and Ford Ranger. Some information is still missing and Honda is keeping secretly what is beneath the hood. From the information that we got, the new model will most likely use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all-wheel-drive system as standard.
2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz Under the Hood
The latest 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz reveals some refreshments outside. At this point, we can only speculate about powertrains. There is no official information what type of engine will power Santa Cruz pickup. From many rumors, one can expect a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all-wheel-drive system as standard.
If you remember, the Santa Cruz concept that was introduced a few years ago had a diesel engine. Hyundai canceling diesel before it even went on sale. This indicates that there is a chance that the next-gen Santa Cruz may be offered with a hybrid powertrain. We will not guess and we are still waiting for more officials’ details.
2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz Exterior
The first spy photos of 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz finally emerged after many renderings that we saw. As we said, the all-new Santa Cruz will be based on the next-gen Tucson crossover and both models wear the same theme.
At first glance, there are many different things compared to the rendering version. The new model that is spied is wearing heavy camo and we can see somehow different styling. Through the camo, we spot a blocky grille, tiered LED headlights, black cladding around the wheel arches, and a kicked-up side window. The bed was completely covered, but we saw many similarities with the first-gen Ridgeline. Dimensionally, Santa Cruz could probably be around a foot longer than the Tucson. That means that Santa Cruz will be 194 inches long. For comparison, the latest Ridgeline model measures 210 inches long, while the Ranger double cab is 211 inches long.
Interior Is Still a Mystery
Inside, the new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz will be modern. This pickup truck will definitively use some of the Tucson cues. As you may know, Tucson is one of the best selling models from this automaker thanks to its durability and quality. We know for sure that Santa Cruz will provide many upscale materials and techs.
If you remember, renderings that we saw early reveals almost identical cabin as in the Tucson. Thanks to that, we assume that the cabin will be spacious and there will be plenty of rooms for five passengers in two rows. We can even expect larger displays, ambient lighting, excellent safety ratings, and much more.
